My Story
Why ‘The Blind Photographer’?
My friends call me that. I am not completely blind. I have limited vision due to multiple degenerative eye diseases. After a dozen surgeries, it is difficult to use a camera on one level. But ‘seeing’ is more than a physical activity… it seems to be a matter of inner vision as well. People often ask me ‘how did you get that shot?’ Sometimes it is successful professional photographers asking! The answer: I am ‘seeing’ with my heart and accepting extraordinary images as they are presented to me. All the images on this site are ‘found’, and generally unmanipulated and unenhanced. I’m grateful for what I see.
I haunt the beaches of Encinitas, California. In all weathers and all seasons, I eagerly head for the shore. It is my refuge and my practice, as nature truly is my church.
